Jeanne and Lola are enthusiastic residents of the Grant Neighborhood area, Jeanne for many years and Lola for about 10 years. Jeanne told us about growing up in the neighborhood where both of her parents were also employed by neighborhood businesses, her dad with Cherry City Bakery whose delivery truck is shown here. Lola spoke about her love of Craftsman-style houses and how she has always been sketching examples of such until she found a living example of her sketch in the home once owned by the Paulus family. Each spoke of their area as being a smaller, family-oriented neighborhood where neighbors know and greet each other, and where there was much diversity in house styles. They were both enthusiastic about the calendar the neighborhood produced in partnership with the City's Heritage Neighborhood program which can be purchased from the website of the Grant Neighborhood Association. Additionally, they are eagerly anticipating the publication of the architectural guide prepared by Professor Thomas Hubka and the university interns. To view a draft of this guide, click here. |
